- It provides all the facilities and services for the eastern region, being administrative headquarter. It has many attractions that can lure domestic as well as foreign tourists. Tamor and Arun rivers are popular among the rivers. Tamor River is well known for rafting. The places like Raja Rani, Danda Bazar, Hile, Pakhribas, Bhedetar, Namje, Dhoje Danda, Leguwa, Mulghat are the major spots of attractions in this district. Bhedetar, is popular across the country which has its different physical and natural features. It lies 1400 mtrs above the sea level offering the wonderful view of the plain terai areas, green hills and forests. It was visited by Prince Charles in 1980 of Great Britain. There still stands Charles view tower to recall his visit which provides the panoramic view. Raja Rani is another place to visit which has a wonderful Raja Rani (King Queen) lake. This place is named after the lake Raja Rani.
